Goodbye Blogger/Blogspot World!

Not only is Google+ riding into the sunset, but I have also established a new blog so as not to be caught unawares the next time Google wants to take a product/program away from me. With that in mind, here are different places on the internet to find me: New Blog: A Life Full of Adventure Socially Networking: MeWe  (frequent) or  Pluspora  (occasional) Podcasting: Anchor FM

FYI: Comments

Anchor'cast 6: Killer DM

Why I have been called the Killer DM

[D&D 5e] Storm King's Thunder 3

Quarion - Half Elf Warlock (me) Gorthran - Dwarf Tempest Cleric Eldreth - Dwarf Fighter Dar - Human Ranger Seville - Half Orc Barbarian (Previous Notes) There was only 1 place left we hadn't explored in the Village of Nightstone. The stronger members of the party leaped the broken bridge leading to the village's keep. From there, they set up some ropes my Warlock could use to cross. From the other side, we heard voices coming from inside the keep. Quarion decided to use his charisma to gain entrance into the building. The nervous, leaderless guardsmen on the other side let us in with little argument. They told a story that 3 days ago, a castle in the sky flew over the village, dropping all the boulders we had found. Huge cloud giants came down from the castle, stole Nightstone's large village altar, and returned to the castle. Then they flew off. The lady of the castle, also head of the guard, was killed by a fallen boulder. The village was leaderless. There...

Sci-Fi Challenges

I have some challenges running a sci-fi game. These challenges are all me, nothing to do with the system or setting. I don’t know a lot about guns and similar weaponry. I don’t know much about ships (or vehicle in general) space exploration, or faster than light theories. These things are a large part of science fiction. So what’s my answer? I take a lot of these things out of my sci-fi game. I limit technology, and I only need to learn about a few things every once in a while. I do that through the game Cascade Failure . Is that the right answer, to run a sci-fi game but limit all the science? Probably not. Someone suggested to me once that I just think of my guns the same way I think of different weapons in a fantasy game. A blaster could just be a hand weapon with a short range. Each type of gun could just be a different type of hand weapon. And let the players worry about the details: damage die, range, etc. Or, give one of the players who likes this type of stuff an opportuni...

[D&D 5e] Storm King's Thunder 2

Quarion - Half Elf Warlock (me) Gorthran - Dwarf Tempest Cleric Eldreth - Dwarf Fighter Dar - Human Ranger Seville - Half Orc Barbarian ( Previous Notes ) Kella had charged us with clearing the goblins out of her town, and then helping the townsfolk return. To clear the goblin menace, we went door to door around town. The Half Orc took this opportunity to raid essentially the entire town. We found goblins in the garden of a home. We fought goblins in a hayloft. We found goblins with pumpkins on their heads running around near the town's inner moat. That fight went particularly bad, as we had advantage and still both managed to miss striking a goblin. Later that night, the rest of the goblins ambushed us, tired of getting picked off two at a time. At that time the goblin leader, a hobgoblin? attacked us as well. We needed a lot of healing, and we used up a lot of spells. That led to a lot of resting, and one of the new playing renaming the game "Dungeons and Dream...

[WFRP 1e] The Enemy Within 15

Martin - Human Scout Wilfried - Human Fence Gottlieb - Human Bounty Hunter Othmar - Human Charlatan Larry - Human Bodyguard Wilhelm - Human Wizard Apprentice (Previous Notes) The party headed upriver in the direction of Delberz. They were still intent on getting Wilhelm to meet his instructor so he could get more wizardry training. Only, they were halted in Grossbad due to a familiar person about to get lynched. Sailing toward a mooring in Grossbad, the party recognizes infamous card shark Philip Des Carte as he is chased through the town. Larry skillfully utilized his piloting experience to bump another boat away from the mooring before it was secure. The party then used a combination of blathering, persuasion, and intimidation to confiscate the wanted man onto their ship. Des Carte laughed with glee, despite being a bit worse for the wear. Gottlieb had roughed the man up a bit when arresting him. Philip's greatest concern, after his freedom, was the retrieval of his ...

[WFRP 1e] The Enemy Within 14

(Side Note: I missed sessions 12 and 13 due to the holidays and moving.) Wilfried - Human Fence Gottlieb - Human Bounty Hunter Martin - Human Scout Othmar - Human Charlatan Wilhelm - Human Wizard Apprentice ( Previous Notes ) Wilfried wasn't sure how he made it out of Bogenhafen alive. The manor house was burning, fists were flying, and dangerous looking people were transforming into more dangerous looking daemons. However, the next thing he knew, he was alive and back on the boat floating toward Altdorf. When the literal and figurative smoke cleared, the party found themselves in another little town, looking for an apothecary who went missing. Her name was Elvira. All signs pointed toward a kidnapping, leaving Elvira in the hands of at least 3 men who had her trapped in a red barn. At the barn, Gottlieb circled around back to scout the locale. Martin and Wilfried pulled the barn doors open, while Wilhelm to magically talk down the ruffians inside. The ruffians admitt...
