(Previous Notes)

The party was four weeks into their stay at Barak Varr after finding the latest talisman. Vaervenshyael was hungry a lot. She had put on over 5 lbs, while still doing all the activity she was used to doing. Some mornings she woke up mad. Very mad.

On the day she thought she might finally talk the party into returning to Padua (after all, Tankred's sword would not be finished for months yet), the dwarf guard entered the inn where the party was staying and requested the party join them at the gates to the Temple of Verena. Apparently the gates had been closed for some time, and the party members were the last ones seen coming or going from the temple.

They arrived. Johann knocked on the door. The windows exploded, and a black cloud rolled out. The doors exploded outward, vomiting a pack of large war dogs. Johann was able to get out of the way.

The dogs raced into the crowd around the temple. A large warhorse with a headless rider in familiar armor appeared (see last sitting). Tankred attacked the horse and rider.

Vaervenshyael ran at the horse, sliding under it and piercing it from it's underbelly. She rolled out of the way of horse hooves and stabbed it again. The creature fell over dead. The armored creature rolled off and continued attacking Tankred.

Vaervenshyael slashed a small scratch to the back of the figure's neck. She then drove her masterwork rapier deep into the figure's armpit and skewered all its internal organs. The figure collapsed and rotted away at their feet. The battle was brief, and Vaervenshyael's ire was still up, but there was nothing left to attack.

There were screams, and shouts of alarm in the background. Van Duster and Imeltrud were dead.

Inside the temple there was hole in the center of the common area that looked down into the basement.
