[WFRP 1e] The Gathering Storm 3

The head of the watch met the party as they returned through the east gate to Stormdorf. The man had a thin, humorless face and a long-waxed moustache. A black leather eyepatch covered his right eye. His good eye had a piercing stare. He wore a black wide brimmed flat hat set at a rakish angle, and he wore a breastplate over black jerkin. His jerkin and his close-fitting hose were both fashionably slashed. His left arm ended in a stump at the wrist. A splendid sword of obvious superior craftsmanship dangled at his belt. He introduced himself as Arno Kessler. “What did you find? Should I expect any trouble from out that way?” Rolf responded, “We took care of it. All of it.” Captain Kessler looked in the cart where the lightning stone sat. “What’s that thing?” “Stone taken from the beastmen.” “Is it going to be any trouble?” The party cast some dubious looks at each other, but assured that the stone wouldn’t be anything the watch had to worry about. Kessler tells Rolf he can...

[WFRP 1e] The Gathering Storm 2

To The Farm! Something was burning in the distance. Thunder crashed, and lightning struck the temple of Sigmar behind the party. The tracks toward the farm were deep mud. There was no way Kraft could get her cart out to the farm. She stayed behind while the others went to investigate. Rain continued to pour off their wide-brimmed hats and well-used ponchos. It seemed the rain hadn’t stopped this farm from burning to the ground. Every building had been set ablaze, with little more than a steaming, smoky mess remaining. Feet squelched into mud. Slippery mud. The smell was nauseating. The scene was carnage. Carnage without bodies. The party searched the scene, looking for victims…but also looking for Florian Wechsler’s missing cart. Rolf checked the remains of the barn. Nim used his spear to move rubble and look for bodies. Everyone could see the cloven-hoofed footprints leading directly east toward the Oberslecht Swamp. A single set of human-sized boot walked south east tow...

[WFRP 1e] The Gathering Storm 1

Finishing Grunwald Lodge   First thing in the morning on the night after the events at Grunwald Lodge, Lord Aschaffenberg sends for reinforcements. Until they arrive, everyone else is overworked with guard duties and stepping up to cover the duties of the dead. The characters pretty much have run of the place.   Nim was interested in searching the doctor’s quarters, but they were locked. Luckily, he had a new friend who could help him out. Hektor picked the lock, and they looted the room. Nim made off with a satchel of basic medical equipment, mostly bandages, dressings, scalpels, and retractors. He also took the doctor’s notes, which mostly talked about perfecting his schlaf recipe. There was no finished schalf in the doctor’s room. They decided to check the hospice.   In the hospice, Nim distracted Sister Sonja with talk about the events of last night, and hints that the doctor was not the noble gentleman he pretended to be. While they were thus occupied, H...

[D&D 5e] Storm King's Thunder 3

Quarion - Half Elf Warlock (me) Gorthran - Dwarf Tempest Cleric Eldreth - Dwarf Fighter Dar - Human Ranger Seville - Half Orc Barbarian (Previous Notes) There was only 1 place left we hadn't explored in the Village of Nightstone. The stronger members of the party leaped the broken bridge leading to the village's keep. From there, they set up some ropes my Warlock could use to cross. From the other side, we heard voices coming from inside the keep. Quarion decided to use his charisma to gain entrance into the building. The nervous, leaderless guardsmen on the other side let us in with little argument. They told a story that 3 days ago, a castle in the sky flew over the village, dropping all the boulders we had found. Huge cloud giants came down from the castle, stole Nightstone's large village altar, and returned to the castle. Then they flew off. The lady of the castle, also head of the guard, was killed by a fallen boulder. The village was leaderless. There...
