My Character Gairloch Ironheart  - Svirfneblin Priest of Grumbar Companions Jemmabink - Gnome fighter Nina - Human Paladin of Helm Leonardo - Human Summoner Revoltac - Elf Ranger Vahael Corrolon - Human Cleric of Helm (absent) ( Previous notes ) It is one month until the King's party that we have all been invited to attend. One of our member was summoned to learn proper etiquette for such an affair. Vahael was chosen to go.  In the meanwhile, Gairloch worked on his excavations behind the keep. Gairloch awoke in the middle of the night sensing something disturbing in the direction of the Haunted Halls. He decided he should check the disturbance out immediately. Jemmabink was awake as well, and she thought they should wake everyone else up. They did and prepared the keep for the party's absence for an unknown amount of time. Before heading into the halls, Gairloch summoned his earth elemental, Brutus. Leonardo summoned an unseen servant (which he named ...

My Character Gairloch Ironheart  - Svirfneblin Priest of Grumbar Companions Jemmabink - Gnome fighter Vahael Corrolon - Human Cleric of Helm Nina - Human Paladin of Helm Leonardo - Human Summoner Revoltac - Elf Ranger ( Previous notes ) Return to Eveningstar The party returned to Eveningstar from their recent assignment via Arabel. On the way into Eveningstar, Jemma wanted to stop to give young Anna some candy she bought in Arabel. Then it was on to see Lord Tessaril Winter. King Azoun was also with Lord Tessaril, awaiting our return. He was glad the party retrieved his dagger, but would not take it from us. Lord Tessaril did that on our way out. Instead, the King invited us to Suzail for his birthday party! Nina, being a paladin from Suzail, told us it was a very prestigious event and that only the top ranks were invited. The King said the party would be held at Lord Partic Thistle's. Return to The Keep The party returned to their keep, Keep Vigilant, to find ...

My Character Gairloch Ironheart  - Svirfneblin Priest of Grumbar Companions Jemmabink - Gnome fighter Vahael Corrolon - Human Cleric of Helm Nina - Human Paladin of Helm Leonardo - Human Summoner Revoltac - Elf Ranger (Absent) ( Previous notes ) The Amazing Adventures of Jemmabink, the very same adventures that encouraged me to leave the comforts of the Underdark and travel to the World Above, these adventures are no more easy to believe now that I live them side-by-side with the legend Jemmabink herself. The lock on the iron door would not yield to our key, and we weren't quite ready to force it. We retraced our steps back to the antechamber to try another route. There was a door ajar on the east wall, just the way we left it. Jemmabink and Nina opened the door to a hallway. The hallway had two doors across from each other nearby and another two further on. The second door to the south lined up with the iron door we couldn't open. At its end, the hallway t...

My Character Gairloch Ironheart  - Svirfneblin Priest of Grumbar Companions Jemmabink - Gnome fighter Nina - Human Paladin of Helm with her Dire Wolf mount Vahael Corrolon - Human Cleric of Helm Revoltac - Elf Ranger Kaiden - Half Elf Mage ( Previous notes ) We returned to our party keep, which we agreed to call Keep Vigilant, to continue repairing the walls. Gairloch, my Earth priest, had a few different spells to soften and shape stone. It was calculated that I could fix a 20x20 section of wall per sleep cycle. This sleep cycle was shortened by a magical ring Vahael offered to let me use. On the second day after our return, we received a message from Lord Tessaril. We immediately traveled to her home. She reported that Arabel had reopened after an internal rebellion fought in the name of Gondegal, an old time rebel from Arabel. Myrmeen, the Lord of Arabel, had closed the walls during the rebellion. Now that the gates were open, we could travel there and find out ...

My Character Gairloch Ironheart  - Svirfneblin Priest of Grumbar Companions Jemmabink - Gnome fighter Nina - Human Paladin of Helm with her Dire Wolf mount Vahael Corrolon - Human Cleric of Helm Revoltac - Elf Ranger with raven and Kodiak bear companions Kaiden - Half Elf Mage ( Previous notes ) The party spent a lot of time talking about upgrades to their new keep, assignment of rooms, and others to invite in to help run the place. There was a period of three days in which Gairloch did nothing but cleanup and repairs (made easier by using Dig , Soften Earth and Stone , and Stone Shape ). It took 3 days to rid the keep of the bodies of the giants and bugbears that previously inhabited it. On day 3, a tall, blue man in a magnificent cart arrived. It was an extravagantly long cart, pulled by 12 horses. Jemmabink reportedly knew the man driving the cart and called him Sereem. He apparently arrived at the whimsical summons of Jemma as a merchant to buy and sell some o...

Eveningstar 30 Introspection

In my last sitting , I learned that Gairloch (svirfneblin specialty priest of Grumbar) seemed of more use to the party as a buffer and a healer than as a fighter. Though he is well armored, there are others in the party who can take a hit better. Though he has a mean maul, there are others who do far more damage and attack more times per round.  However, the bonuses that Gairloch is able to give with a Recitation and a Prayer spells are nothing to scoff at. And when he is able to cast those spells on a gnome friend who is fighting giants...that is a huge bonus. I think I'll stay away from the fighting (though it is fun when I have time to summon an earth elemental before battle). I'll continue to bolster, heal, cure, etc. When the time comes, I can always grab the maul and take a swipe or two, without worrying about dying the first time I'm hit.

My Character Gairloch Ironheart  - Svirfneblin Priest of Grumbar Companions Jemmabink - Gnome fighter Nina - Human Paladin of Helm with her Dire Wolf mount Vahael Corrolon - Human Cleric of Helm Revoltac - Elf Ranger Kaiden - Half Elf Mage ( Previous notes ) There was an immediate regrowth of vegetation around the town of Eveningstar after the cleansing of the temple to Eldath. Flora was restored at a miraculous rate, signaling the personal favor of the goddess. When Gairloch next rejoined the party, they were all prepared to head north: the direction Old Meg had indicated the giants originated. During the walk, it was noted that something was spying on the party from the surrounding forest, but nobody, including the elf ranger, was able to identify the spies.  The party came upon walls to a keep which was nestled into the side of a mountain. They expected to find giants inside the walls, so spells were prepped, arrows were nocked, and swords were dr...

My Character Gairloch Ironheart  - Svirfneblin Priest of Grumbar Companions Jemmabink - Gnome fighter Nina - Human Paladin of Helm Vahael Corrolon - Human Cleric of Helm Revoltac - Elf Ranger Kaiden - Half Elf Mage ( Previous notes ) The party was summoned to the estate of Lord Tessaril late in the night following the Zhentarim attacks. Many other notable townsfolk were present, including Jelde a priest of Lathander and retired Knight of Myth Drannor. Also present was the previously missing blacksmith, Derthal. Shortly into the proceedings, a portal opened on the edge of town, and King Azoun's personal representatives appeared with more Purple Dragon support. Gairloch did not know who these representatives were, but the Lord Tessaril bowed to them. The meeting resumed in Tessaril's estate. The meeting was again interrupted, this time by Old Meg, an eccentric hermit from the west side of town. She was famous for her walking staff, which she liked to bang o...

My Character Gairloch Ironheart  - Svirfneblin Priest of Grumbar Companions Jemmabink - Gnome fighter ( Patchy previous notes ) Gairloch Ironheart, svirfneblin, Loyal Architrave of Grumbar, recent conqueror of the sunlight, and survivor of the Haunted Halls, and knower of nothing regarding forests, was cordially asked to help with the Eveningstar Harvest Festival tree-chopping contest. He was to aid the butcher, Ebbard Highsong. The competitions were going well. Gairloch used his blessings from Grumbar to dig holes for posts so the locals could chop them down. There was also an incident where a person's axe bounced off the tree and into the competitor's leg. Gairloch had to pray to Grumbar to heal the wound. And, at one point, Gairloch could have sworn he saw Jemmabink zip by, riding a giant wolf, sitting behind a lady in full armor. Early in the afternoon, all hell broke loose. Clouds rolled over the town unnaturally fast. The sky darkened. The ground rumbled. Gigan...

My PC Gairloch - Svirfneblin Priest of Grumbar My Companions Kerun - Half Elf Berserker turned Paladain Gemmabink - Gnome Fighter Leonardo - Human Summoner Session 25  (06/09/2008) Found a small tunnel. Crawled through and found chest with gold, silver, and pink pearls. Found a giant skeleton with a magic spear. "Shimmering" and magic boots of the North. Rested in the Haunted Halls again. Next day found a midden with a lock lurker and potions. Session 26 (06/23/2008) Kerun decided he was checking for traps and opening doors. Silly half elf. Found a small chest in a room, surrounded by bones. Kerun opened it. He was hit with a fire blast. Maiior helped save Kerun, who was in flames. Gairloch repaired Kerun's broken arm and cured Maiior's wounds.  The chest had 4 golden rings with tiny emeralds, and two large canvas sacks full of gold. Found a treasure room where time slows. Found a magic mouth telling us the way is blocked. Had to cure a di...

D&D Eveningstar Campaign 21 - 24

My PC Gairloch - Svirfneblin Priest of Grumbar My Companions Kerun - Half Elf Berserker turned Paladain Gemmabink - Gnome Fighter Leonardo - Human Summoner Session 21  (04/14/2008) (My part of the session was spent making the new character while the others continued adventuring in the Haunted Halls.) Session 22 (05/05/2008) The new gnome meets up with the party, and is welcomed right in since he searched for the famous Gemmabink. We visited Durthal, who needed a Dispel Fatigue spell. Gairloch summoned an Earth Elemental to work on Josiah's home. He then used his stonemasonry skill to work on the door. The party had supper at Lord Tessaril's. Session 23 (05/12/2008) Speak with the Dead: Petrall killed his cousin for the family inheritance and headed to the Haunted Halls. Augury: directed us to the straight passage in the Halls. Gairloch cured wounds, found traps (and disarmed them with his maul), and unlocked doors (with the maul). He was a nice add...
