Did I Play an X Card?

It finally happened. My Warhammer character failed a Terror test, and then failed her Insanity check. The GM said we'd get around to finding my disability later, and my character failed 3 Terror checks in a row, so I had plenty of time during combat to look up the options of mental disabilities. By the time combat was done, I had looked through them all. There were some that seemed to fit my situation better than others, and there were two I wasn't interested in playing at all. I spend every workday dealing intimately with addicts. It gets to be very taxing at times. During my game time, I don't want to have to roleplay a weirdroot or mandrake addict or an alcoholic. That's just no fun to me, though I could probably do it with uncanny accuracy. When the time came to roll, I stated these feelings out in the open. Luckily I rolled one of the disabilities that seemed to fit my situation perfectly. I'm sure the GM would have let me reroll if I had rolled one of...

My PC Vaervenshyael  - Female Elf Assassin My companions Tankred "Silver Bear" Tenneckermann  - Human Artisan/Mercenary/Champion Wilhelm Hechland  - Human Pistoleer/Engineer/??? Doctor  Johann Wilhelm Woeller  - Human Physician Van Duster - Mercenary NPC ( Previous Notes ) Tankred was impatient to get this quest over with. He kicked in the first door on the left, into what looked like a stable. Two gunshots rang out from a wraith-like creature wielding pistols. Vaervenshyael tried to shove Tankred away from the doorway and out of the line of fire. Unfortunately, the creature's aura held Vaervenshyael in the grip of fear and she couldn't move. When Vaervenshyael broke the spell of fear and she could move, she wanted to stay as far away from the monstrosity as possible. She pulled her own pistols and fired...with very little effect. She was forced to pull her hand weapons and engage. Her first attack with her rapier killed the creature th...

My PC Vaervenshyael  - Female Elf Assassin My companions Tankred "Silver Bear" Tenneckermann  - Human Artisan/Mercenary/Champion Wilhelm Hechland  - Human Pistoleer/Engineer/??? Doctor  Johann Wilhelm Woeller  - Human Physician Van Duster - Mercenary NPC Imeltrud - Knight, liason to Mathilda NPC Gertie - Knight, liason to Mathilda NPC ( Previous Notes ) A beaten Verenan was released from the shackles holding him up. The doctor tended to his wounds. Tankred began burning cultist bodies. The Verenan started mumbling. "They've opened the portal...they sent Felix and Gustav to retrieve the stone...They know...They know about the talisman." There is a door on one side of the room that the priest is looking toward. Vaervenshyael listens. Crickets. It could be a pleasant outdoor evening on the other side of the door...only the party is underground. The door is a portal to another dimension. There was much debate about turning around and going...

He walked into Waycombe at dusk, intrigued that it was empty. He entered the only intact building with lights on and introduced himself. Droop, the goblin, took a liking to him immediately. The party spent the night at the inn in Waycombe, splitting watch duties between the non-spellcasters. During the first watch, Kell saw two men walking out into the field behind the inn. They started yelling toward the town, but she couldn't make out what they were saying. She woke Mist and Gunel. The men were too far away to understand. The three kept eyes on the men until the two gave up and head...

My PC Vaervenshyael  - Female Elf Assassin My companions Tankred "Silver Bear" Tenneckermann  - Human Artisan/Mercenary/Champion Wilhelm Hechland  - Human Pistoleer/Engineer/??? Doctor  Johann Wilhelm Woeller  - Human Physician Van Duster - Mercenary NPC Imeltrud - Knight, liason to Mathilda NPC Gertie - Knight, liason to Mathilda NPC ( Previous Notes ) Vaervenshyael stared into the room. There were three pale female dressed in antiquated clothing, sitting around two long tables drinking dark wine out of goblets. In the back of the room was a seductive tapestry. Under the tapestry was a 2 inch slit in the floor. The room slanted slightly toward the slit. The females looked up from their cups and smiled invitingly. Vaervenshyael got straight to business. “What is this place?” The women answered with an invitation into the room. From behind, Imultrude warned the party of nefarious emanations coming from the room. Tankred charged. Before sh...

[D&D 2e] The Sword Coast Adventures (Setup)

Brielle the Academician and Ulric the Loremaster met in a library in Waterdeep. They were both looking to access the same historical archive and soon learned of their common interests. Through research, they soon learned of long forgotten historical sites of yore and set about investigating them in person. Early on, they hired common mercenaries to accompany them to remote sites. It didn't take long, however, before they realized the need for a trustworthy (wo)man at arms to coordinate these escapades. They did some research (naturally) and found a warrior in Candlekeep who came highly recommended: Nora. On one of the remote explorations, the party came across a minotaur in an underground complex. After a rough initial impression, the party came to realize the minotaur was not a menace but instead a Ranger named Kolot. Brielle and Ulric were happy to offer such a unique creature a place in their exploratory band. This caused some dissention amongst the hirelings, and Nora ...
